The agreement

Terms of Service

Last updated 25 July 2026

These terms cover your use of Ohene. They are meant to be read, not endured, so we have kept them plain. By using the app, you agree to them.

What Ohene is

Ohene is a personal journal for iPhone. You write, and Sankofa reads what you have written and reflects it back to you. It is a tool for noticing your own life. It is not therapy, not a medical device, and not a crisis service. If you are in distress or in danger, please reach a qualified professional or your local emergency services. Ohene is a mirror, not a doctor.

Your content is yours

Everything you write, speak, photograph, or attach in Ohene belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and take no licence to it. Because Ohene is local-first, your memories live on your device, and we cannot read them. We do not need rights to your content, because we never hold it.

Using the app

You may use Ohene for your own personal reflection. Please do not:

Ohene Pro and subscriptions

Ohene is free to use. Ohene Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks Sankofa's deeper reading, including Ask, connections found across months, the weekly letter, and the annual Book of You.

Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store using StoreKit. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings. If a plan includes a free trial, any unused portion is forfeited when you subscribe. Prices may change, and we will give notice where the law requires it.

Ownership of the app

The Ohene app, the name Ohene, Sankofa, the interface, and its design are owned by Talka Technologies. The Adinkra symbols and the wisdoms they carry are drawn from Akan tradition and are used with respect. Your use of the app grants you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it, and nothing more.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Ohene running well, but the app is provided as it is. Features may be added, changed, or removed as the app grows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of every error.

Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ohene is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Because your data lives on your device, keeping your own backups, including through optional iCloud sync, is your responsibility. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Ending your use

You may stop using Ohene at any time by deleting the app, which removes its data from your device. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Talka Technologies at its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where a mandatory consumer-protection law of your own country gives you stronger rights, those rights still apply to you.
